Dorothy Moulthrop, PhD

Dorothy Moulthrop, PhD is an education consultant who helps schools, districts,institutions, and educational leaders succeed and support students and families at the highest levels. She provides services in professional development, program design and evaluation, institutional advancement, leadership training and coaching, and strategic grant development. She works in public, private and parochial schools, from the classroom to district level administration. She is a skilled communicator, a respected leader, and a sought-after collaborator.

Dr. Moulthrop earned her doctoral degree in education policy and leadership at The Ohio State University. Her research focuses on the intersection of policy and practice, specifically in the areas of school change, teacher and principal retention, 21st century pedagogy, urban education, leadership development, and equity.

Dr. Moulthrop spent five years in school administration, most recently as Director of Curriculum and Faculty Development at Hawken School, a PS-12 independent school in Greater Cleveland. Prior to administration, Dr. Moulthrop was an English teacher at Shaker Heights High School. She began her career teaching English language arts and English as a second language at San Lorenzo High School, in the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition to leading schoolwide efforts to teach academic literacy across all disciplines, she served as English department chair.

Dr. Moulthrop received her BA in Comparative Literature and Italian from Northwestern University. She completed her teacher training at the University of California, Berkeley, and received her Masters of Education from Ursuline College.
